• As rude as I have (maybe just a little bit) been in the past about "Food in a Minute", I made Allyson Gofton's Lemon Delicious Pudding last night and it was very yummy.
• Old men in berets riding bicycles are the best old men of all.
• Hyperthyroidic cats have no shame whatsoever and are more than happy to sit outside scoffing all the bread you put out for the birds.

So in one of those serendipitous interweb moments I found myself travelling from Steven Johnson's review of the reviews of his new book Ghost Map to a review of Ghost Map on Very Short List to "Ricky Gervais and David Bowie, together at last" on Very Short List before finally ending up watching the YouTube video of David Bowie with Ricky Gervais on Extras.

Best journey destination ever. So funny. So so funny. And David Bowie!

I’ve decided that I’m a big fan of sticks. When you’ve got a stick on your personage you just feel taller. Which is nice when you’re short. Particularly because, technically, you’re still as close to the ground as ever. Which is fairly important when you’re prone to falling over on a regular basis. And yet the illusion of tallness. So. Nice.

Also sticks are good for chewing on if you’ve misplaced your toothbrush. And for playing Pooh Sticks with. And for entertaining not-very-bright dogs. And, if you’re in possession of the Secret Girl Guide Knowledge - which, just between you and me, I am - sticks are excellent for lashing together to form a camping washstand. Should you happen to require a washstand when you’re camping.
